Dzyadzorm [real name Vanessa Akua Medie] is an up and coming Ghanaian/Liberian spoken word artist who built her foundation in poetry after joining the People Of Equal Thoughts & Spirits [P.O.E.T.S] society in 2010 although she’s been writing since Junior Secondary School. She's also a naturalists!!!!

Sunne's Gift Competition.

We are proud to announce to you that we will be giving away 2 copies of Sunne’s Gift to two lucky kids at Afrotastic 2014.

Sunne is a magical being or "magbee". God imbues Sunne with the power of the sun. Sunne's straight-haired siblings, Earth, Watre, and Winde have unique powers of their own. When Sunne is teased and bullied by siblings because of Sunne's natural, kinky, curly and spirally afro-textured hair, Sunne desperately tries to change. Sunne's Gift's message of self-love and bullying prevention, coupled with its sci-fi imagery, make it hit with people of all ages.

So here are the rules:

Inbox us a photo of your son/daughter/nephew/niece rocking their natural hair at afrotastic.ghana@yahoo.com with the subject: Sunne's Gift Competition and we will upload for the competition. The two photos with the highest number of likes will each win a copy of Sunne's Gift. The competition will take place on the event page https://www.facebook.com/events/1481894905373382/. In addition, winners will have to come to the event to claim the books. Failure to do will result in second best photos being awarded the books. The age limit for kids to enter the competition is 11 years.

The competition starts on 1st June 2014 on the event page. However interested participants should send us photos before that date.

A New Beginning

Welcome!!!

This is the official blog for Afrotastic 2014. It’s a pleasure to bring into fruition this dream that many of us as Ghanaian naturalistas have always dreamt of. A platform for us to interact, share knowledge about our natural hair journey in Ghana and discuss not only our role but also the challenges that we face.

We will be bringing under this platform, both international and national product vendors who specialise in natural hair and accessories to display their products for purchase. Participants at the event will also benefit from free products and accessories through giveaways/tombolas.

In addition, we have a special Guest to deliver a talk on natural hair, personality and confidence. We will also enjoy spoken word and music by some of Ghana’s finest artistes.

It will be a pleasure to have your grace our event on 5^th July 2014 at the YWCA from 11:00 am to 5pm. The programme schedule will be up soon.
